A third class-action lawsuit has been filed against MC Tank Transport and its parent, Kenan Advantage Group, over the Oct. 20 chemical leak, the Blade reports. One suit filed Wednesday says the release lasted over 45 hours and alleges that 57 people were treated at area hospitals.
If the leak cost you money, MC Tank has a claims line open at 888-271-0577. Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz said he expects the company to honor its commitment. Attorney Mark Skeldon, one of four in a proposed class action, says to read paperwork before you sign, because a release could mean giving up future legal rights.
- Ask for a receipt, not a release, when expenses are paid
- Keep records of out-of-pocket costs, missed work and symptoms
- Skeldon wants you to seek hotel, meal and lost-wage reimbursement
