CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Toledo man discovered a dead body on Madison Avenue on Sunday while checking on people experiencing homelessness—officials noted that 588 shelter beds were at 99% capacity with 538 people waiting—prompting calls for improved mental health and housing support. WTVG
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Holidays at the Manor House will run from Dec. 6 through Dec. 14 with free admission and open hours from 10 a.m.—8 p.m. WTOL
- ➤ The Toledo Repertoire Theatre will perform its 40th anniversary production of A Christmas Carol from Dec. 5—Dec. 7. The theatre will hold weekend shows to give local audiences a festive preview of the classic tale. WTOL
- ➤ Local writer Dan Denton—former Jeep union steward—released his fourth poetry collection Fight Songs for the Underdogs in October, a book that reflects his early struggles with poverty, addiction, and homelessness and honors the spirit of America’s working class. - ➤ Toledo is partnering with the Ability Center to hold a focus group that asks people with disabilities, caregivers and service providers for input on finding accessible housing at Toledo Lucas Main Library on Dec. 11 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.—Their input will help guide future policies by the Department of Housing and Community Development. - ➤ Lucas County has launched a new online system for dog license registration for 2026; all dogs over 3 months must have a valid license by Jan. 31 to avoid a $25 late fee. Residents may register online, by mail, or in person at designated locations—veterans may qualify for a free one-year license for up to 100 dogs. WTOL
- ➤ On December 1st, Dr. Kevin Egan—an economics professor—discussed the work requirement in Gov. Mike DeWine’s Child Care Cred Program and said it may improve outcomes. His remarks come as state officials continue to refine the program to better support families. The University of Toledo

- ➤ MemoryLane Care partnered with the Area Office on Aging to launch a new program—Care Transitions—that helps older adults receive guidance on medications, follow-up appointments and emotional support as they return home from the hospital.
