COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Oregon Fire and Rescue, Cenovus, and city council honored first responder and Clay High coach Derek Besgrove—who died in April—by funding a new mini ambulance named DB—44. The vehicle will be ordered from an Ohio company and used at local events to help provide immediate care.  WTVG
  • Two Dominican Sisters, aged 96 and 95, sew hats and quilts five days a week at their convent in central Ohio to donate handmade items to local shelters and families in need; they began this work during the COVID-19 pandemic and have delivered over 120 pieces to communities as far away as Arkansas—helping preserve dignity for those they serve.  WTOL

  • Heidi Hess retired from Owens Community College after a long career training fire department workers across the region and said she is not sure what she will do next.  The Blade

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A disabled Toledo woman still has not received her November SNAP benefits that were due on November 4 even though her Connect EBT shows December funds, and she said she has only $11 left—she will call Jobs and Family Services on Monday as state officials reported all benefits were issued after government shutdown delays.  WTVG

HEALTH NEWS

  • UToledo Health is offering a new therapy that may help patients with resistant depression rewire their brains and get better—doctors say it could be an option for those who have not responded to usual treatments.  The Blade

  • Óscar Gómez says Sweet Havana at 1855 S. Reynolds Rd. offers a journey to Cuba—each dish is crafted with care to reflect authentic Cuban flavors.  The Blade
  • Dan and Carl completed their annual holiday cooking PSA at Imagination Station on November 28th at 10:08 a.m.—flaming oil and water do not mix.  WTVG

SPORTS NEWS

  • Governor Mike DeWine and Governor Gretchen Whitmer have wagered that the winning team of the OSU vs. Michigan game today will receive potato chips from rival states—Ohio is offering Conn's, Grippo's, Jones', and Mikesell's chips with Marsha's Homemade Buckeyes while Michigan provides Better Made, Great Lakes, and Downey's chips. Lieutenant Governor Jim Tressel and Michigan Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist II have also bet that the loser will wear an iconic sweater vest and post a photo on social media.  WTOL
