COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Toledo Humane Society is opening a new facility on Briarfield in Maumee to offer specialized care for dogs rescued from cruelty and ease overcrowding at its original shelter. The $1.7 million project will include a low-cost vet clinic and community training — and is expected to open in January as fundraising continues.  WTVG
  • On Nov. 8, Trinity Episcopal Church marked a milestone by installing Rev. Jon M. Richardson as its 33rd rector, with nearly 70 community members and faith leaders gathering for the ceremony.   • An appeals court ruled that Dad’s Place may resume overnight sheltering while its case is reexamined. The court found that the trial judge applied the wrong legal test and ignored Ohio’s broader religious rights protections — prompting a fresh review.  WTOL
  • Young Toledoans will attend a town hall at Glass City Enrichment Center on December 7 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. to discuss TARTA transportation challenges—such as route changes and access to jobs and after-school activities.  WTVG

  • The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Lucas County launched a confidential survey to collect resident input on behavioral health and recovery needs—responses will help guide its strategic plan and determine future funding, and the survey is open until Dec. 9.  WTVG
