COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Runners converged on west Toledo for the annual Turkey Trot Prediction Run where those closest to predicting their own finish time won a free turkey — organizers collected money for local food banks.  WTOL

CRIME NEWS

  • Otsego Local Schools staff found two threatening lists titled 'Kill List' and 'Death Note' after a concern over a student's bus journal, and a threat assessment found no credible danger—families of students named will be notified by email before the end of today.  WTVG

  • TFP reporter Jaden Jefferson interviewed Toledo Public Schools Superintendent Romules Durant — he discussed the state report card on the 'Behind the Byline' podcast produced at Toledo Tech Loft.  Toledo Free Press

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • UToledo researchers hosted a workshop on environmental topics for more than 20 journalists on Nov. 21. The event featured tours of the Lake Erie Center (about 15 miles from Main Campus) and the Wright Center for Photovoltaics Innovation and Commercialization that highlighted advances in aquatic research and solar energy technology.  The University of Toledo

  • ODNR has announced a full schedule of America 250 Celebration events set for 2026 to honor the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence—featuring over 50 events such as hikes, tours and open houses across state parks. The planned activities will span from January through November and may be updated as additional events are confirmed.  Toledo Legal News
  • Governor DeWine and JobsOhio announced a $100 million Energy Opportunity Initiative—designed to provide grants and low-interest loans that help companies offset natural gas and nuclear power production costs—to support infrastructure and job growth over the next five years. The program will fund engineering, site preparation, and workforce training as part of Ohio’s effort to remain an energy leader.  Toledo Legal News

HEALTH NEWS

  • The University of Toledo will mark World AIDS Day by asking the campus community to wear red and accept red ribbons outside the Four Seasons Bistro at the Medical Center on Dec. 1. Later in the week, a free documentary screening of ‘Join the Club’ with a Q&A session and a panel on living with HIV—featuring experts and community members—will offer further ways to engage.  The University of Toledo

  • Ottawa Hills’ Green Bears finished a tough season (6-9-2) and advanced through the postseason run under second-year coach JR Hall. They won over Woodmore, Mansfield Christian, Ottoville, Fort Jennings, and Kidron Central Christian before falling 5–1 to Summit Country Day in the state final (earning a No. 1 seed in the district).  Toledo Free Press
  • The Toledo Rockets won their first MAC Championship by defeating Western Michigan 3 to 1 on Sunday in Bowling Green—earning them a spot in the NCAA Tournament and setting up their next match on Nov. 30.  WTOL
