  • Perrysburg police and fire divisions are serving as donation points for the Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots drive—accepting donations and letters to Santa from residents until Dec. 10.  The Blade
  • The 38th annual Blade Holiday Parade is a cherished Toledo tradition that marks the start of the holiday season on North Summit Street — residents like Antonio Graciani fondly recall watching floats and bands with their families in past years.  The Blade
  • Robert Hayman— a block watch coordinator in Beverly— said he wants more Toledo residents to start block watches to help keep neighborhoods safe. He will work with local groups to share advice and next steps for those interested in joining these efforts.  The Blade

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Tajiana Poellnitz is a self-taught chef and UToledo junior studying Asian Studies who plans to start a nonprofit culinary readiness program to help less-fortunate communities by offering food education and resources for sustainable futures. She has worked as a private chef and taught cooking classes, and her experience is driving her new effort to serve others in both rural and urban areas.  The University of Toledo

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost said the Shine a Light on Dumpers program—designed to stop illegal dumping in neighborhoods—won an international award from the International Association of Chiefs of Police. The initiative, launched on Earth Day in 2023, used training, legal help, and special tools to support local law enforcement.  Toledo Legal News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jim Tressel announced $6 million to fund driver training scholarships for over 10,000 new drivers under 21. Four educational service centers (East Central, Fairfield, Midwest and North Central) will launch these programs within 150 days as part of the Drive to Succeed initiative.  Toledo Legal News
