- ➤ UToledo hosted hundreds of local veterans for breakfast and a resource fair on November 12 to honor Veterans Day. The event featured services from government agencies, nonprofits—businesses and community groups. The University of Toledo
- ➤ United Way of Greater Toledo will distribute over 900 meal kits to families before Thanksgiving to help with food challenges following the shutdown—this support also includes weekend meals for children and special meals for seniors. WTOL
- ➤ Equality Toledo’s no barriers food pantry—opened in 2018 to increase food access—has served four times as many families recently amid uncertain times. WTOL
- ➤ The Toledo Blade Holiday Parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the corner of Summit and Jefferson streets, featuring giant balloons, local marching bands, horses and floats (restauranteur Kengo Kato will serve as Grand Marshal). WTVG
- ➤ The Martin Luther King Center Kitchen for the Poor is asking Toledo residents for donations as it faces a $10,000 monthly deficit and rising service needs to feed more than 200 people daily. Founded in 1969 — the nonprofit now serves school children and the elderly — it accepts monetary donations, clothing and non-perishable food items to help bolster its reserves. WTVG

- ➤ Air Force veteran Cat Kania retired after over 20 years of service to open CK Sweets in Swanton where she bakes over 40 types of cookies and 30 types of cupcakes from scratch—she launched the bakery in January 2020 and her mobile dessert trailer Zelda brings treats to events statewide. - ➤ Veteran Christopher Harris turned his love for brewing into Black Frog Brewery, a thriving community business that began in his garage and now operates in Holland and Cleveland—serving American and European style beers to local fans. He plans to expand distribution and build a lasting enterprise for his children while serving on the National Black Brewers Association board. Toledo Free Press

- ➤ The owners of the Field of Dreams Drive-in Theatre in Liberty Center announced they are retiring from day-to-day operations and have paused showings while seeking energetic entrepreneurs to lease the property. The theater is the only drive-in in Henry County — new management is expected to keep its legacy alive for the community. Spectrum News 1

- ➤ Toledo Public Schools announced Wednesday it will pause Head Start and Early Childhood Education programs on Dec. 1—citing a missing federal award notification that has delayed funding. The pause will affect more than 1,000 students and 124 employees—while Title I Pre-K classes will continue as planned. Spectrum News 1

- ➤ Evan Zoldan, director of the Legal Institute of the Great Lakes at the College of Law, joined national panelists on November 13—discussing water security at the 25th annual Great Lakes Water Conference. The University of Toledo
