COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ University of Toledo hosted its annual breakfast to honor veterans and drew hundreds of guests. Dan Cummins served as emcee—he led the celebration of military service. WTOL
- ➤ ConnecToledo and Downtown Toledo Improvement District will host a community clean-up event on Nov. 14 from 10 a.m. to noon at Uptown Green (1904 Madison Avenue) to help residents collect litter, recycle, and support unsheltered citizens. Volunteers will receive gloves, vests, trash bags and cleaning supplies and enjoy donuts at check-in followed by lunch at Manhattan’s Pub and Cheer. WTVG
- ➤ Toledo’s Seagate Food Bank supported veterans on Veterans Day by hosting a food pantry—designed like a grocery store—where veterans received free groceries including meats, fruits, vegetables, bread and sweet treats. - ➤ Homer's Cycles on Galena Street in Toledo will close on Nov. 26 after nearly 70 years of family-run service. The owners, who could not find a buyer, will remain open until the end of the year to help loyal customers complete orders. WTVG
- ➤ Shake Shack will open a new location at Town Center at Levis Commons on November 18 at 11 a.m., serving its famous burgers, fries and hand-spun milkshakes. Its hours will be 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays (construction begins this summer in a 2,525-square-foot space near Bar Louie). WTOL
