BUSINESS NEWS

  • Toledo’s first microbrewery celebrated 30 years at the historic Oliver House—known for its tasty beers and local charm.  WTOL
  • Employees at Avestruz Tapas and Tequilas did not get their pay when the restaurant in Ostrich Towne closed unexpectedly, leaving workers worried about bills and belongings. Developer Joe Nachtrab stepped in to issue paper checks next Thursday—while a sign on the door shows a new Italian dining concept will open in early 2026.  WTOL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • UToledo announced in September that starting in fall 2026 Michigan students will pay the same in-state tuition as Ohio residents, saving about $4,680 per semester and automatically receiving a scholarship to cover the out-of-state surcharge — University President Dr. James Holloway said the program is expected to add 50 to 100 Michigan students and will not expand beyond Michigan.  Toledo Free Press
  • UToledo will host a high school choral festival on Saturday, Nov 15 with guest clinician Dr. Jo-Michael Scheibe teaching over 80 students from five area high schools from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The free public concert will start at 5:30 p.m. at Doermann Theatre (at the Center for Performing Arts).  The University of Toledo

  • The University of Toledo will host its final pop-up flu shot clinic on Wednesday at Thompson Student Union from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Faculty, staff and students can get free vaccines with a required consent form, and more shots will be available at other campus locations through Nov. 26.  The University of Toledo
