COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Toledo Helps Ukraine is sending its fifth container of humanitarian aid to Ukraine — marking its largest shipment to date. The container carries essential supplies to support those in need.  WTOL
  • EPIC Toledo will host its annual Leadership Summit tomorrow at the Renaissance Hotel Downtown where over 250 young professionals will gather for keynote speeches and panel discussions on important topics. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. — featuring speakers like Karen Eber and Grammy-winning producer Jameil Aossey along with panels on mental health and downtown development.  Toledo Free Press
  • Toledo Zoo and Huntington Bank are giving free zoo memberships to over 150 local families to celebrate the season—an effort organized through the zoo’s community partner program.  WTOL

CULTURE NEWS

  • Several Toledo Museum of Art galleries in the West Wing of the Green Building will close starting Dec. 15 until the reinstallation is finished in 2027—artworks will be stored as the museum creates a chronological journey through art history.  WTOL
  • Tree City Film Festival will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at Olander Park in Sylvania—screenings include films made in 50 hours on location.  WTOL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The College of Engineering at UToledo hosted artificial intelligence certification workshops (sponsored by JobsOhio) on November 5 as part of Great Lakes AI Week. The event began a series of on-campus workshops designed to boost AI skills among participants.  The University of Toledo
  • More than 1,000 professionals from across the Midwest met with students at Bowling Green State University on November 5—gathering to discuss the impacts and future of artificial intelligence—during the inaugural Great Lakes AI Week.  WTVG
  • On Wednesday, students from Toledo Preparatory Academy visited Shared Legacy Farms (in Elmore) with Urban Wholistics to learn about farming and harvest produce that will help feed over 200 families (in Toledo), teaching them the value of local food sources. The fresh vegetables will be distributed Friday at Urban Wholistics as the Snap It Forward project continues.  WTVG

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Toledo City Council voted on Wednesday to ban the sale of synthetic kratom while still allowing the natural leaf after a public health notice highlighted its risks — health experts warned that the substance can lead to addiction and serious side effects.  WTVG
  • Metroparks Toledo announced that the Glass City Riverwalk Project is making progress downtown after completing Phases 1 and 2. Phase 3 construction is underway on both sides of the river and will add a ramp bridge on the MLK Bridge—ensuring accessibility for all, with full project completion planned by the end of the decade.  WTVG

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Ability Center and the Area Office on Aging have partnered to open the Northwest Ohio Medical Supply Closet, which gives free incontinence supplies to residents and caregivers in need. The service aims to help community members access essential medical products with dignity.  WTOL
