- ➤ Fifteen-year-old Mason Brown from Sylvania turned Halloween into a mission by running his Spooktacular Food Drive — collecting donations that help local families in need. WTOL
- ➤ Local restaurants One Love and Jamaican Spice are hosting donation drives and food sales—supporting those hit by the hurricane in the Jamaican homeland. Community members are invited to participate in these relief efforts. WTOL
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Hit & Run, a six-member band from the outskirts of Toledo with four high schoolers and two college freshmen, released its 11-track album Crash Course after a year of writing and recording. The record blends rock and jazz sounds reminiscent of mid-'60s clubs and is available on streaming sites and at live shows. Toledo City Paper
- ➤ Toledo’s Sacred Steel Music and History Museum preserves local sacred steel music through oral tradition and is dedicated to keeping the city’s musical heritage alive. - ➤ University of Toledo faculty were recognized on Oct. 30 with certificates from Provost Mitchell McKinney and President James Holloway at Thompson Student Union—honoring their tenure and promotion achievements. - ➤ Today, low-income Ohio residents can apply online for one-time help to keep their heat or restore service via the Winter Crisis Program—run by the Ohio Department of Development. - ➤ County and city officials say tens of thousands in Lucas County may lose federal SNAP benefits during an upcoming pause in food assistance—local agencies are preparing for the impact on affected residents. WTOL
