  • Neighbor to Neighbor will host InspireFest—a community celebration that highlights stories of kindness and connection—at Ottawa Park on Saturday.  The Blade
  • Michael Faulkner — a golfer for 23 years — left his job at Aaron’s in 2021 to work with the Ability Center and First Tee on a new program that will make golf accessible to all. The program will offer local residents hands-on lessons and a supportive setting to enjoy the sport.  The Blade
  • Pumpkinstock held a night of live music on October 26 that raised all proceeds for two local charities—uniting local residents with music and kindness.  WTVG

CULTURE NEWS

  • Collectors gather at the Toledo Comic and Toy Show where fans view rare items including a 1938 issue of Action Comics that first introduced Superman—drawing local enthusiasts to celebrate comic book history.  The Blade

  • The University of Toledo’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry introduced a 12-credit analytical chemistry certificate in 2023 to help students gain focused lab and laboratory skills—recent graduates say it boosted their job prospects at companies such as American Glass Research and Eurofins Scientific.   • Dr. Donghui Zhao joined UToledo on Oct. 6 to lead glass research and teach in Natural Sciences and Engineering.   • The University of Toledo Rocket Career Center will host BOOsting Your Career Week from Tuesday, Oct. 28 until Thursday, Oct. 30 at the Thompson Student Union with events featuring free cider and donuts, mini pumpkin painting and a campus candy crawl. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor DeWine and DPS Director Wilson announced today a free RoadReady Ohio app to give learner drivers real-time feedback and help log the 50 hours of supervised practice needed before they test for a license. The app, developed by JF Griffin, uses telematics to score braking, turning, acceleration and speed and will support new permit rules for drivers ages 18 to 20 starting tomorrow.  Toledo Legal News

  • Dr. Alastair Hoyt from University of Toledo Medical Center explains that deep brain stimulation gives patients new treatment options and helps neurosurgeons explore additional procedures.
