- ➤ 13abc will run its annual Hope for the Holidays Toy Drive from November 14 until December 5 to help local families get gifts for Christmas. - ➤ Lucas County families may register in-person at the Salvation Army on Erie Street for Christmas assistance—offering toys for children 12 and under and food help via a Kroger gift card—during windows of 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov 4–7, Nov 10, and Nov 12–14; only one application per household is accepted and applicants must bring a government-issued photo ID plus proof of household documents. - ➤ On Tuesday, October 28, from 6–8 p.m., Media Decompression Collective and @csrntoledo will host a free screening of the documentary To Kill a War Machine at the McMaster Center in the Main Library at 325 N. - ➤ In South Toledo, officials halted mining at three properties and ordered Rocky Ridge Development LLC to replace all materials removed from a residential zone — the order delays local projects as some dirt has been used to remediate a landfill. Rocky Ridge has filed a court appeal over the emergency zoning violation issued by the Toledo-Lucas County Plan Commission. WTVG
- ➤ California passed a law that requires chatbot companies to add safety measures—Ohio lawmakers are considering several bills to protect minors from explicit chatbot content and to ensure AI systems cannot hold legal rights. WTOL
- ➤ At the Lucas County Commissioners meeting on Sept. 30, officials reviewed Jeep Fest which drew 1,400 Jeeps and 30,000 attendees while marking its economic impact at $8.3 million and renaming the parade after Bruce Baumhower—commissioners also approved measures such as a new five-county economic strategy, a bond sale for healthcare upgrades, an annexation petition, and an extension of the Benefit Bridge Program, while discussing budget needs for OSU Extension and the Clerk of Courts. - ➤ Halim Clinic opened on October 21st and is ready to serve Toledo residents—bringing an extra option for local health care services. WTVG
- ➤ ProMedica and Medical Mutual are still negotiating a contract as a third party reviews cost data—ProMedica is urging Medical Mutual members to support a final agreement through direct digital communications. If no deal is reached, ProMedica providers will move to Tier 3 coverage effective Jan. 1, 2026, while UToledo Health providers remain Tier 1 for employees. The University of Toledo

- ➤ Downtown Toledo's Four Corners project is moving forward with a new team led by RKP Group as renovations on the historic Nicholas and Spitzer buildings aim to add over 400 residential units to ease the local housing shortage—an effort to revitalize the only corner where all four original buildings still stand. Early work on asbestos removal and demolition is underway with the Spitzer building set to finish in 2028 and the Nicholas building planned for 2029—marking a major step in creating a 24-hour downtown neighborhood.
