- ➤ Sarah Ryley has been named the new executive director of Toledo GROWs—she will continue the vision of long-time leader Yvonne Dubielak who spent 12 years building the urban gardening nonprofit. Ryley plans to support community gardens and expand outreach to keep Toledo green. The Blade

- ➤ Witches Brew, a witch costume party for women, is set to take place from 6—10 p.m. on Oct. 25 at Premier Academy in Maumee as host Jodi Schramm aims to draw about 75 guests with a buffet, tarot readings, bingo, and a costume contest. - ➤ The University of Toledo Department of Theatre and Film will screen the horror-comedy 'The Lost Boys' on Friday, Oct. 24 in the Center for Performing Arts Film/Video Lab Theatre—doors open at 7 p.m. and the film begins at 7:30 p.m. The free screening is open to the public. - ➤ The University of Toledo’s Information Security Office is running Cybersecurity Awareness Month through October and urging Rockets to protect their digital lives by being alert to phishing emails, fake messages, ransomware, and risky AI practices (students should check messages carefully and update their security settings). - ➤ Ryan Egan, a senior in computer science and engineering at UToledo, transferred from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology to join a more collaborative environment that has led him to two co-op positions at MIT’s Lincoln Laboratory—one of which saw him serve as a team lead this past summer. - ➤ The University of Toledo will host its inaugural Holloway’s Halloween celebration from Oct. 27 through Oct. 31 for students, staff, alumni and community members.
