COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Helping Hands of St. Louis will host its Winter Coat Fest on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its clothing center on Sixth Street—families in need may pick up a free coat, and volunteers can set up Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. WTVG
- ➤ On Wednesday, the City of Toledo celebrated the opening of Inez Nash Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the $2.5 million project that is reviving the Warren-Sherman neighborhood. The park offers walking trails, playgrounds, and accessible spaces for all ages— and it will add a basketball court with a mural in spring. Spectrum News 1

- ➤ Stellantis announced a new midsize truck that will be built at the Toledo Jeep plant and join the Gladiator and Wrangler — the $400M investment is expected to add 900 jobs and production will begin in 2028. WTVG
- ➤ Transport Services opened its third Toledo location on Oct. 16th to offer local customers additional transport options; the new branch is part of the company’s expansion strategy. WTVG
- ➤ American Electric Power closed on a $1.6 billion loan guarantee from the U.S. Department of Energy to update nearly 5,000 transmission lines in several states — including 76 projects in Ohio that will replace 2,122 lines serving 1.5 million customers, with the upgrades expected to save customers $275 million and create 1,100 construction jobs. - ➤ The Toledo Museum of Art opened a bold exhibition — Infinite Images: The Art of Algorithms — on October 16 at 11 a.m. at 2445 Monroe Street, where art meets math and machine logic; it runs through November 30 and features interactive installations and screen-based works. Toledo City Paper
- ➤ Some Toledo restaurants are known to be haunted and show signs like moving objects and strange sounds that give diners a chill. - ➤ The United States is seeing a fracking boom as record oil production in 2023 spurs companies to move into Ohio and Michigan — local lawmakers are working on measures to stop the expansion. The efforts reflect growing concerns about how new fracking projects may affect communities. WTVG
- ➤ The City of Rossford closed part of Superior Street on October 16 to repair a major water main break — crews worked throughout the day to fix the issue, and officials said repairs will continue until it is completed. WTVG
- ➤ Residents in Lucas and northern Wood Counties can get a free ride to the polls from Toledo Jobs with Justice’s Ride to the Polls program, which runs from Oct. 4 through Nov. 4 and is non-partisan.
