  • At Boyk Law's 17th annual Bikes for Kids program today, Andrea Young shared details about the event and honored the deserving children who received free bikes—highlighting a local effort to bring joy and opportunity.  WTOL
  • The city will host a public input session for Vistula Neighborhood residents (at 915 N. Summit St.) on Sept. 10 (5:30 p.m.) to gather local feedback.  WTOL

BUSINESS NEWS

  • King City Gardens — which began by growing products from its mother trees — nearly doubled its profits in its first year after recreational cannabis became legal in Ohio. The company is testing pre-roll joints and will roll them out later this week as it aims to attract customers from Ohio and nearby states.  WTVG

EDUCATION NEWS

  • University officials, students and staff celebrated first-floor renovations at Carlson Library on Aug. 27—attending a ribbon-cutting ceremony and touring new academic support spaces that now house the relocated Learning Enhancement Center, Writing Center and TRIO Student Support Services along with three Supplemental Instruction classrooms.  The University of Toledo

  • Drivers on East Woodruff Avenue are being diverted from a water-filled hole near Woodruff Village Apartments that has posed safety concerns for nearly two years, with children at risk playing nearby. Toledo city officials explained a leaking joint on a 60-inch water transmission main is the cause and said a specialized part is expected by mid to late September—residents feel their neighborhood is being overlooked.  WTVG
