COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Rossford Bulldog Foundation will host the 2025 Bands for Bulldogs Music Festival on Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Moe’s Place, Danny’s Cafe, Red’s, and Cinco de Mayo—live music, food, games and a Rossford High School drum line kickoff will benefit local schools.  WTOL
  • Toledo Pride celebrates Sweet 16 this weekend at Promenade Park—beginning Friday at 5 p.m. with a family-friendly Nite Glo 5k, moving to a parade Saturday at noon on Adams St., and closing Sunday with a Big Rainbow Brunch that requires a $5 wristband.  WTVG
  • Republic Services resumed trash collection today after a contract was reached amid worker strikes, yet some Toledo residents still face overflowing bins and worries about pests. Local officials confirmed that regular service has been restored despite delays in certain areas.  WTVG
  • Today, Class 299 ran from International Park to the Toledo Fire and Rescue Department memorial at Chub DeWolfe Park as part of the Legacy Run tradition, which honors local firefighters—continuing the department’s recruitment of community support.  WTOL

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The family filed a lawsuit against Stellantis after a Jeep worker was crushed at the plant, claiming the fatal accident was linked to poor safety measures.  WTOL
  • A 67-year-old Waterville man suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a distracted driver— a 35-year-old from Detroit— in a parking lot at Best Transmission and Auto Repair Monday morning and was taken to a hospital.  WTVG

CRIME NEWS

  • In 2005, a duck hunter found a skeleton on the shores of Lake Erie in Jerusalem Township. Officials have not identified the remains despite extensive testing — the investigation continues.  WTVG

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Perrysburg Board of Education will vote on Aug. 18 on appointing Dr. Kadee Anstadt as interim superintendent; if approved, she will begin on Aug. 19—after Tom Hosler leaves to lead the Ohio School Boards Association. Anstadt, who started teaching in Perrysburg in 2005 and served as superintendent at Washington Local Schools, was chosen as the most qualified among several candidates.  WTOL
  • Toledo Lucas County Public Library offers free educational resources for students and families during the school year—these include homework help, digital tools, free printing, study spaces, and enrichment activities at its 20 branches. Residents can get a free library card to access all of these services.  WTOL

  • Extensive flooding has been reported on Glendale Ave near the Anthony Wayne Trail and 13 action news crews are on scene—authorities are monitoring the situation for further updates.  WTVG
