- ➤ Residents at Executive Towers in Toledo (102 tenants live there) met with a Fair Housing attorney on August 11 to consider forming a tenant’s union after a ruptured pipe and evacuation notices left them uncertain about staying. Denizen said it will repair the building’s issues while tenants worry about future evictions (concerns remain over the landlord’s communication and management decisions). WTVG

- ➤ Andreas Madrigal, 19, went missing from his east Toledo home on Wednesday after a mental episode and his body was found by boaters in the Maumee River on Friday—family and friends held a vigil Sunday night at Glass City Metropark to say goodbye. WTOL
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police responded Sunday just before 7 p.m. to an animal complaint on the 300 block of Raymer where they found 13 children living in deplorable conditions and arrested three adults for child endangerment (the arrested are Angel Lambert, Cassandra Lambert, and Angel Olivieri). WTVG
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gas prices in Toledo fell sharply last week to an average of $2.78 on Monday—nearly 74 cents less than this time last year and 29.7 cents lower than the previous week after two weeks of rising prices. WTOL

- ➤ Ten area students received $10,000 JA college scholarships at a luncheon on August 6 at Lourdes University in Sylvania. The awards, which provided $5,000 for each of their first two college years, recognized academic excellence, program participation, and thoughtful essays on future goals — a step meant to help guide them toward college and career success.
