- ➤ Before 2:30 a.m. Monday, an SUV lost control at Idaho and E. Broadway in Toledo and hit parked cars that hit another vehicle, leaving two people hospitalized, including a minor—police said the investigation is ongoing. WTVG
- ➤ A 59-year-old Toledo man in a wheelchair is fighting for his life after suffering life-threatening burns when a fire broke out on the front porch of his Deal home between Navarre and Starr at about 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, and firefighters transported him to a hospital. WTVG

- ➤ The Sylvania City School District Board of Education discussed a draft cell phone ban policy at its Monday evening meeting at Southview High School — the proposal required students to store their devices in lockers. WTVG
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Attorney General Dave Yost announced that attorneys general from 49 states, D.C. and five territories signed on to a $7.4 billion settlement with Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family, which ends their control of Purdue and bars them from selling opioids. Ohio will receive up to $198 million in funds—if local governments join the plan—subject to bankruptcy court approval, and the money will support addiction recovery over the next 15 years. - ➤ The Lucas County Clerk of Courts announced the title office at 1600 Madison Avenue will close after business on Aug. 15 due to reduced activity. A new office will open later this month in Marketplace West Shoppes at 3606 W. Sylvania (near other government offices) to continue serving customers. WTVG
