- ➤ Friends and family of Tammy Bowlin-Macrae are organizing the 15th annual walk on Saturday, August 23 to honor her memory after she was murdered in 2007 and to raise funds for Advocates for Victims and Justice. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Walbridge Park gazebo on Broadway while the 2.5-mile walk starts at 9:30 a.m.—donations are welcomed to help cover event costs. WTVG

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lucas County Children Services will distribute more than 1,000 donated book bags in August to children in its care and those they serve — bags that come with essential school supplies — to help every student start school prepared. Teen volunteers — including 19-year-old Jayla Ivy — are packing the bags with items like backpacks, crayons, markers and pencils. WTVG
