- ➤ Ohio State Highway Patrol said a head-on crash on U.S. Route 6 near milepost 11 in Center Township at 3:05 p.m. Saturday left 42-year-old Wilson Sanchez dead—he was passing westbound traffic—while a truck driver and a passenger from Edgerton were seriously injured and taken to hospital. WTVG

- ➤ A Toledo woman was arrested after allegedly striking a pedestrian and backing over the victim before fleeing authorities on Friday — she led a two-mile police pursuit, ran a red light, and crashed near Collingwood and Highland Avenue while facing charges of Felonious Assault and Failure to Comply. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lucas County commissioners raised property taxes on July 22 to fund maintenance of the Swan Creek ditch systems that have reduced drainage due to sediment buildup and flooding. One resident from Waterville, William Roper, attended the hearing and secured a change in his property’s soil grade to lower his tax bill. Toledo Free Press
- ➤ Toledo officials are asking residents to give feedback on trash and recycling services as the Republic Services contract expires in August 2026. Residents can complete a survey or speak at a City Council meeting (Aug. 7 at 4:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers). WTVG
- ➤ A contractor responded on July 26 to questions about the Broadway construction project in Toledo—he said planned adjustments might ease the delays and help keep the work on schedule. WTVG
