- ➤ The Islamic Center of Greater Toledo will host its 23rd annual International Festival on Sept. 20 (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and Sept. 21 (12 p.m. to 6 p.m.) at 25877 Scheider Road in Perrysburg + the event will offer international dishes, live music, dance, art, a marketplace, a children's area, guided tours of the historic mosque, and free admission with a $5 parking fee. - ➤ Salute to Carpentry is a local non-profit that teaches veterans carpentry skills to help manage stress and anxiety. WTVG
- ➤ The Salvation Army of Greater Toledo will run its free backpack and school supply drive for students from pre-school to 12th grade from July 21 to 23 at its 620 N. Erie Street facility in Toledo. The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. daily and requires registration documents (photo ID, proof of address, proof of children’s age, custody papers if applicable). WTOL

- ➤ Toledo police fatally shot 39-year-old Terrell Carter during a foot pursuit in east Toledo after he fired at officers, marking the second officer-involved shooting this month. WTOL
- ➤ Kemarri Anderson, 25 and charged with aggravated murder, murder and felonious assault in the fatal May 19 shooting at a McDonald’s on Reynolds Road that killed Brandon Abbott, was found incompetent to stand trial yesterday—he will be sent to Northwest Ohio Behavioral Healthcare and may become competent within the next year with a hearing set for June 11.
