- ➤ BRB Run Club was started in early 2025 by local runners in Toledo and meets at The Docks on Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 9:30 a.m., where members stretch, hydrate, and run at their own pace while building a supportive community + boosting local fitness. WTVG
- ➤ The Ottawa River Yacht Club in Point Place will host its annual regatta on July 11 and 12 to promote safe boating and raise funds for the club. The event gives boaters of all ages a chance to improve their skills and connect with Toledo residents — officials note that friendly competition is a key part of the experience. WTVG
- ➤ Neighborhood Health Association and Jones Leadership Academy of Business with other community partners are hosting their fourth annual hygiene product donation drive through August 8 to stock the academy’s hygiene pantry and teach lasting hygiene habits—donations include toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss, mouthwash, deodorant, bar soap, menstrual products, underwear, body lotion, face wash, and hair care items dropped off at several local sites. - ➤ Toledo Police officers shot an armed suspect after responding to a domestic assault call at an apartment on the 2300 block of Eastgate just after midnight Tuesday, and the suspect suffered a non-life threatening hand injury before being taken to the hospital. WTVG
- ➤ Three teenagers were charged with aggravated murder, conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery, felonious assault, discharging a firearm, and tampering with evidence after a 4th of July incident that killed 17-year-old Jaycieon Bennett when the teens, already on probation, allegedly tried to sell a gun and then robbed the victims—the two older suspects may soon be certified as adults. - ➤ UToledo opened a new footbridge over Douglas Road to improve safety for students after concerns were raised about crossing the busy street—promising a safer route across campus. The bridge enhances connectivity and meets an important need for pedestrian safety. WTOL
- ➤ Toledo School for the Arts will launch a $25,000 fundraiser on July 10 to rebuild a stolen sculpture titled My Happy Place and expand outdoor security cameras after most parts were sold for scrap plus school officials said they are partnering with QSI Fabrication, Inc. and the artist to restore the work. - ➤ Toledo Day Nursery made childcare more affordable by waiving tuition fees during November and December for parents on maternity or medical leave — a program supported by the Bainum Family Foundation — as part of its effort to gather data for potential national policy changes. Toledo Free Press

- ➤ The Toledo Area Sanitary District is adding a tick tracking program to its mosquito control services in Lucas County to monitor tick populations and guide future treatments—residents can drop off ticks at designated park boxes or deliver them to headquarters for testing.
