BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Kings Throne Inn in the Old West End on Collingwood Boulevard recently won the Consumer Choice Award for its 4.9/5 Google rating—owner Landon King said the guest feedback and personal service made the award possible. King renovated the 1892 building in 2021 to offer a unique Toledo stay and now uses the award to boost his local hospitality business.  Toledo Free Press

CRIME NEWS

  • On July 5, 2025, four homicides occurred over a 24-hour period during a holiday weekend in Toledo—police are searching for the shooters in three of the cases, including the fatal shootings of Salvador Ruiz and Amir Thomas-Clair who were shot minutes apart.  WTVG
  • Toledo police said early this morning several people were injured in a shooting outside a sports bar on Matzinger Road — multiple victims were taken to area hospitals.  WTVG
  • Police investigated a homicide after 20-year-old Salvador Ruiz was found shot inside a vehicle near Platt and 1st streets shortly after midnight—minutes later, officers found 20-year-old Amir Thomas-Clair shot in a crashed car on Nevada Street, and another victim was hospitalized in critical condition.  WTOL
  • Joseph Fox was cited for hitting a tricycle bike carrying three children and fleeing the scene—he is held in Erie County jail on no bond and two of the children were seriously injured.  WTOL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Executive Director Tisha Mays started aMAYSing in 2021 to give kids hands-on experience in broadcasting. The program helps local youth learn media skills (such as production and on-air work) to prepare for future opportunities.  WTOL
