- ➤ On Friday, Officer Anthony Dia’s family marked five years since he was fatally shot on duty on July 4th, 2020 by handing out 118 free hot dogs—his unit number—and wearing custom shoes with his last words to honor his memory. WTVG
- ➤ A shooting in south Toledo on Friday afternoon left one person dead and another injured when police responded to the scene at Baden Street and South Avenue—just east of the Anthony Wayne Trail—shortly before 5 p.m. WTOL
- ➤ On July 4th, 2025, Toledo police arrested a man accused of a deadly stabbing on Plymouth St—authorities are investigating the incident. WTVG

- ➤ Former mayor Carty Finkbeiner thanked councilman Adam Martinez and other local figures for twice stopping a plan to change 110 acres of South Toledo farmland into a contaminated wetland—actions that many say threaten jobs, housing, and neighborhood quality. He also accused Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz and former official Ed Moore of ethical missteps after taking money from Rocky Ridge, LLC. Toledo Free Press
- ➤ The U.S. District Court for Northern Ohio held a naturalization ceremony at Sauder Village in Archbold Friday morning—granting citizenship to 75 new US citizens. WTOL
- ➤ On Tuesday, July 1, Lucas County Commissioners held two meetings to review an early renewal of a 1.8 mill levy for the Children Services board and to approve revised water service charges—pushing rates up 4 percent each year from 2025 to 2028.
