  • Grace and Gavin Gibson from Northwood started a lemonade stand to raise funds for Project Warming Hearts, which will buy fabric for making blankets for children in hospitals. They raised $131 on the first day and plan to hold the stand again later this summer — aiming to help children in need further.  WTVG

  • Wolfe Hall at UToledo was evacuated due to a potential hazmat event—officials have not provided details on why it was evacuated, how many people were inside, or how long it will remain closed.  WTOL

  • Tony Packo’s launched a new Lángos menu today at its Toledo locations — the lineup offers five versions of the traditional Hungarian street food, including a Classic with garlic butter, sour cream and cheese, a Roast Beef option, a sweet Cinnamon Sugar version, a Pickle Lángos, and a BuMalo Chicken topped with blue cheese.  Toledo City Paper

CRIME NEWS

  • Toledo police have responded to multiple stabbings and shootings since summer began, including two of each since Tuesday night, as safety director George Kral explained that higher temperatures lead to more violent crime due to increased outdoor interactions and irritability—police now use data to send extra resources to hot spots while the city runs cooling centers for residents.  WTOL

  • Marcy Kaptur, the longest-serving woman in Congress — who won by fewer than 3,000 votes in 2024 — filed to run for re-election in Ohio's 9th Congressional District against GOP challengers Derek Merrin, State Representative Josh Williams, veteran Wayne Kinsel and lieutenant colonel Alea Nadeem.   • Lucas County Children’s Services is asking for help to locate the family of a 2-year-old boy found in the Port Lawrence area after he allegedly wandered from his home—officials believe his name is either Ricky or Robert—and anyone with information is urged to come forward.  WTVG
  • The state auditor is investigating allegations that Lucas County’s prior administration intentionally undervalued properties for real estate tax purposes, following a request from state Representative Josh Williams—Lucas County officials say details remain vague.   • Advocates say domestic violence can hurt families deeply but is preventable if local community members learn the red flags—experts advise watching for warning signs to keep relationships healthy.  WTVG
  • Testing from earlier this week showed that E. coli levels remain high in Delaware and Swan creeks, the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department said. Officials urge residents and visitors to stay away from the water while work continues — the advisories will be lifted once levels drop to safe thresholds.  Spectrum News 1
