CRIME NEWS

  • Police said Wednesday morning that 46-year-old Lawrence Moore allegedly shot a female victim—in critical condition—in an apartment on the 1200 block of South Byrne before fatally shooting himself in an attempted murder-suicide.  WTOL
  • A Lucas County grand jury indicted 16-year-old Michael Silvera on charges including aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, and felonious assault for the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Jaidon Mangas that occurred in a Congress Street alley in Toledo on Jan. 4 at about 6:13 p.m. — he is set to be tried as an adult.  WTVG

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Construction started on the new Washington Branch Library in west Toledo on Thursday morning — the 20,000 square-foot building, which will be modern and twice the size of the old branch, is expected to be finished by the end of next year.  WTVG
  • South Toledo residents are relieved as Broadway Street reopened today after nearly completing construction. City officials say the project will improve traffic flow and access—more updates on related work are expected.  WTOL

  • The Garmin Marathon Series will take place on September 21 in Toledo with a full marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K starting near the Glass City Convention Center. A finish line festival with local food trucks + vendors will run until 2 p.m. at Promenade Park.  WTOL
