CULTURE NEWS

  • History Forgotten and Now for All to See is a documentary that preserves the legacy of a Black community and will screen free today at Heatherdowns Branch Library at 2:30 p.m. — doors open at 2 p.m.  Toledo Free Press
  • The City of Toledo held its Cultural Heritage Festival at Glass City Metropark to celebrate Juneteenth and honor local cultural heritage.  WTOL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Maumee City Schools held a bicycle parade where more than fifty bikes—donated by Toledo Bikes and community members—were given to children who did not own a bike.  WTOL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A third-party audit reviewed Lucas Co.'s office and its contractor for the 2024 property value revaluation and released a 43-page report on June 20. The report raised concerns about project preparation and data gathering—Lucas Co.'s auditor blamed the previous administration.  WTVG
  • Residents on Glenton Drive off Glendale say the street is riddled with bumps and potholes—heavy construction vehicles from nearby Wilmore repairs are worsening damage by tossing debris and hurting cars. A city spokesperson explained that while the road is on the repair radar, fixes will likely not happen for three years due to current planning rules and past complaints.  WTVG
  • At Tuesday's meeting, Council Member Adam Martinez urged his colleagues to vote on rezoning measures for Rocky Ridge—he said community members worried about the environment and pay to play politics. The vote was delayed after Rocky Ridge LLC made a last-minute change that left residents and a mayoral candidate frustrated with the council's decision.  Toledo Free Press

  • The Toledo-Lucas County Public Library and UToledo Health will host the Live Well, Age Well: Senior Health & Services Expo on June 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Main Library—local health experts will lead sessions on topics such as medication affordability, building strength, and healthy eating.  WTVG
