CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Toledo man, Delvon Stone, 33, was indicted by a Lucas County grand jury on charges of attempted murder after he allegedly poured gasoline on the mother of his child and set her on fire, which caused severe burns requiring surgery, and he faces additional counts of felonious assault, aggravated arson, domestic violence and strangulation while his record shows two previous domestic violence convictions. - ➤ Dr. Mitchell S. McKinney was named UToledo’s next provost and will join on July 14 from the University of Akron, where he served as dean since 2021. He helped grow student enrollment, research, and fundraising (which made him the top choice in a national search). The University of Toledo
- ➤ Forty upperclassmen from 20 local high schools raised nearly $20,000 through the YIPEE program to help 11 charities that serve kids. The program—run by Leadership Toledo and the Greater Toledo Community Foundation—gave Toledo GROWs $2,200 to buy books for children. WTVG
