- ➤ Maumee community members held a Memorial Day ceremony to honor service members who lost their lives and those who returned with heavy burdens—acknowledging the deep sacrifice made for our nation. WTOL
- ➤ More than 14,000 flags were placed at Toledo Memorial Park to mark veterans' graves during a Memorial Day ceremony. Northview's band performed and VFW led the ceremony—honoring those who served. WTOL
- ➤ The Josh Project, founded by Wanda Butts (after her son drowned in August 2006), offers low-cost swimming lessons and water safety education for Toledo youth aged 5 through 17. The program received a donation of $1,300 (from Yark Automotive) and still needs volunteers and instructors for summer sessions on June 1, June 8, June 15, June 22, June 29 and July 13. WTVG

- ➤ A local woman whose home was hit by a car received answers from officials who said repair options will be reviewed soon — an investigation will assess safety and damage. WTVG

- ➤ A suspect was arrested after leading Toledo police on a chase—crashing into a pole in central Toledo. WTOL
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Party in the Park concert series will begin May 30 at Promenade Park in downtown Toledo with free shows each Friday until August 29. The lineup includes local bands such as the Beef Carvers on June 6 and features events like the July 4 fireworks and Aug. 1 Jeep Fest — efforts meant to boost local downtown activity. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Mason Senior High School hosted the Murph Challenge on Monday with nearly 30 community members, including students, teachers, and local service members, completing a workout of a one-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and another one-mile run to honor Lt. Michael Murphy and fallen military heroes—showing strong community unity. School officials said the event reminded everyone of the sacrifices made for freedom. WTVG
