COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The HER Center opens today to offer essential services and programs for local residents. Officials say the center (located downtown) is a new milestone in community support.  WTVG
  • Today, Historic St. Patrick Church in Toledo held a Blue Mass with bagpipes and memorial bells to honor first responders and military members. The ceremony recognized those who serve with dedication.  WTOL
  • Families gathered downtown Sunday as Toledo police celebrated 100 years of the historic Safety Building — offering tours and family activities — in a community event that honored a century of service. The celebration reflected local pride and history.  WTOL
  • A couple at Larchmont Estates Apartments says a worsening roach infestation has made daily tasks difficult because pest control included in their rent has not been provided. They were placed on a waiting list for treatment starting May 19.  WTVG
  • Ohio BCI hosted its annual Missing Persons Day event Saturday at Perry Field House to honor missing loved ones and support families still searching. The gathering brought together law enforcement, families and local support organizations, reminding attendees that help is available.  WTVG
  • Riders joined a 15-mile charity ride on May 17 at Earnest Brew Works on St. Clair Street, traveling through Toledo's unique neighborhoods and raising funds to provide kids free bikes.  WTVG

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Glass City Record Show is set to return to the Stranahan Theater this weekend and will feature local music talent for Toledo fans. Organizers plan to showcase the city's vibrant sound and community spirit during the event.  WTVG

  • Ohio 529 CollegeAdvantage account holders can now use Ugift to share a unique code that lets family and friends contribute online to college savings, available via the ReadySave 529 app or online access — donors in Ohio can also receive a state tax deduction.   • Today, Bedford High School hosted a Sign and Drive event that let licensed drivers test a school bus while learning about bus driver openings for the 2026-27 school year (at least six positions are expected).  WTVG
