COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities will host the Run, Walk & Roll 5K race at the end of May in Bowling Green to raise money and awareness for accessible programs.  The Blade
  • The HER Center (a new safe space for girls to get mentorship and leadership training) will host an open house Saturday, May 16 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 3727 Upton Ave where community members can tour the facility and learn about upcoming programs.  WTVG

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A Toledo man’s Ram pickup was damaged after an oil change in January, and he sought help from WTOL 11. WTOL 11 and Driven Brands arranged a $558.34 reimbursement + he remains satisfied despite disputing the cause.  WTOL

  • Simon Amonette overcame cancer and earned Eagle Scout rank + National Merit honors during high school. He battled recurring illnesses since July 2022, showing resilience that has inspired community members.  The Blade

SPORTS NEWS

  • The City of Toledo will offer beginner-friendly pickleball clinics at five parks from May through September (Navarre, Inez Nash, Highland, Jermain, Trilby) with sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. Each four-session clinic costs $20 and includes all equipment.  WTVG
  • Toledo’s Walleye will face Fort Wayne in the division finals of the Kelly Cup playoffs today at their home arena. The bitter rivals are set to renew their intense rivalry on the ice, with high-level competition expected from start to finish.  The Blade
