COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Toledo Air Show returns this weekend with U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds headlining and other acts including historic aircraft, military simulators, and a jet-powered truck at Toledo Express Airport. Gates open at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday (with performances starting around noon and wrapping up by 4:30 p.m., and the Thunderbirds flying around 3:30 p.m.). WTOL
- ➤ Toledo Parks and Youth Services announced it will host the 2025 Summer Showcase on May 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ottawa Park—families will explore summer programs, meet instructors, and register for activities offered by over 60 community partners. WTVG

- ➤ The Ohio Supreme Court suspended lawyer Matthew Exton’s license for an interim period after he was accused of trying to shoot his ex-wife at Sabira restaurant on South Huron Street in Toledo in April and he now faces charges of attempted murder and three counts of assault while awaiting a competency evaluation. - ➤ Local performer Jess Worley, known as Scarlett Kiss, will revive Toledo’s burlesque scene on May 24 at Paulette’s Studio of Dance with a show featuring 1940s pinup style and a passion for teaching the art of the tease — marking one of the first professional productions since the pandemic — while Eartha Kitten leads a beginner workshop earlier that day. - ➤ Toledo Public Schools announced plans for the new Brady Educator and Social Services Academy on the new Scott Park Campus — where future teachers for grades 7 to 9 will train when it opens in fall 2026. The academy is supported by a $1 million gift from Tom and Betsy Brady — and TPS is partnering with UToledo to renovate Scott Park for additional career programs. The University of Toledo
- ➤ A Toledo couple donated $1 million to help Toledo Public Schools open an academy for training educators and social workers at the new Scott Park campus—this donation will support efforts to set up the program soon. The Blade
- ➤ Voters in Perrysburg, Bowling Green and Rossford passed school levies on Tuesday, approving renewals that will fund local schools. Perrysburg Schools won approval after voters had rejected three new tax requests since November 2023 — a move that promises to support future education needs. The Blade
