- ➤ The Diocese of Toledo broke ground on a new pastoral center at Delaware Avenue and Collingwood Boulevard on Monday. The center is expected to provide a dedicated space for community and church activities. WTOL

- ➤ Monarch Comics held a grand reopening over the weekend after a fire in 2024 forced it to close; the store now welcomes local customers back. WTOL
- ➤ Toledo business owners are changing operations as rising gas prices force them to adjust pricing and service plans. Los Maritas Taco Truck is preparing to ready a new building while Grass City Lawn Care is rethinking routes to cover higher fuel costs. WTVG

- ➤ 13abc and Gray Media have launched the Star-Spangled Sing-Off contest to celebrate America’s 250th birthday. The contest winner will win an all-expenses-paid trip to Nashville to film a performance that will air on all Gray Media stations. WTVG
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Tonya Duran—founder of the Believe Center and longtime athletics coach—earned an Associate of Arts from UToledo 40 years after finishing high school. Her achievement proves that determination makes education achievable. The University of Toledo
- ➤ Clay Whaley, a student athlete at Clay High School, was named the 13abc Rising Star for the week of April 27, recognizing his impact in and out of class; the honor was announced on May 4. WTVG
- ➤ Undergraduates turned their tassels at UT’s Savage Arena on Saturday, May 4 during the spring commencement in Toledo. The ceremony marked an important milestone for the new graduates. The University of Toledo
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Perrysburg research scientist Mir Md Tasnim Alam and his former professor at BGSU have advanced a project using satellite and drone imagery to quickly measure crop nutrients. The system will help local farmers optimize fertilizer use and reduce runoff (a measure to protect local Lake Erie water quality). Toledo Free Press
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The two-way stop at SR 199 and Five Point Road in Perrysburg Township becomes a four-way stop Tuesday to improve safety after a number of crashes. Message boards warn drivers to use extra caution while a roundabout is scheduled for 2029 (ODOT). WTVG
- ➤ River Road was closed since Monday, May 4, and detours added 10–15 minutes to drivers’ commutes in Toledo. WTOL
