  • On May 4, a fire in Toledo displaced a family that included a mother and several teenagers and left no one injured + fire officials reported that a cat was rescued.  WTVG
  • An electrical fire on the second floor of a home in the 3000 block of Inverness Ave on May 4 displaced a family of four; fire officials said a mother, several teenagers and a rescued cat were unharmed.  WTVG

  • On Sunday afternoon, 13 Action News crews saw multiple BCI Crime Scene Unit vehicles on High Oaks as BCI assisted local police with a Sylvania Twp investigation.  WTVG

  • Graduates moved their tassels during the spring undergraduate commencement at University of Toledo’s Savage Arena in Toledo on Saturday.  The Blade
  • Rachael Pirrami, a UToledo graduate who earned both her Pharm.D and M.B.A on Saturday and became the first doctor in her family, will soon start a Global Clinical Supply Chain Fellowship at Takeda Pharmaceuticals. Her leadership roles at UToledo prepared her well—she served as president of the Student College of Clinical Pharmacy—for a competitive career in supply chain operations.  The University of Toledo

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Sunday, Representative Latta honored students accepted to military academies at a ceremony hosted by the 180th Fighter Wing—recognizing local youth heading toward military careers.  WTOL
  • Toledo will use its own budget to fund summer youth programs after federal pandemic relief ended— officials say the fund will ensure safe activities for kids— and the programs will run throughout the summer.  WTOL
  • Today, Attorney General Dave Yost filed a motion to have the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System co-lead a securities class-action lawsuit against GSK — accused of hiding decades-old cancer risks in its heartburn drug Zantac that led to billions in investor losses. The lawsuit, filed in federal district court in Pennsylvania, names three company executives as defendants.  Toledo Legal News
  • Ohio voters will cast their ballots in the May primary election scheduled for Tuesday—officials are finalizing poll setups and security measures ahead of the vote.  WTVG
