CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Toledo police obtained search warrants that raised questions about phone calls between Darnell Jones—facing more than a dozen charges in the alleged abduction and murder of 13-year-old Kei’Mani Latigue—and his mother, Linda Ogletree, as records from December 21, 2024 through March 25, 2025 were secured. - ➤ Today, the Toledo Police Department held its first T.E.A.M. operation of 2025 called BLASER 3.0—making 141 arrests and seizing more than $4 million in drugs to combat gun violence and other crimes. WTVG
- ➤ Toledo Police issued a warrant for 36-year-old Sonny Fields after he allegedly shot a 36-year-old woman near Hamilton and N. Hawley just after midnight on April 29 — police said he fired at her car during an argument before fleeing. WTVG

- ➤ Matt Bell—founder of Team Recovery—will earn his master’s degree in social work from the University of Toledo on Friday. He overcame a long fight with addiction to help others facing similar challenges. WTVG
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Ohio Governor Mike DeWine introduced a new program called Partners for Change on Wednesday at the Boys and Girls Club in Toledo to lower infant deaths and improve birth outcomes statewide. The effort will focus on Lucas County and partner with local hospitals (backed by a grant from the Ohio Department of Children and Youth) to expand care for expecting families. WTVG
- ➤ Bowling Green State University researchers are partnering with Toledo to strengthen community violence prevention programs with a $2 million Department of Justice grant — the three-year project will use evidence-based research to better align current strategies and develop practical community engagement plans with the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement.
