- ➤ Toledo will host 419 Day celebrations on Friday, April 18 and Saturday, April 19 that feature tie-dye workshops, community clean-ups, fun runs and live music across several local venues. Organizers say some events require registration or tickets while others are free to join, promising a vibrant display of local pride. Toledo City Paper
- ➤ SAME Café—a donation-based nonprofit restaurant at Main Library since 2022—will close due to financial challenges and will end operations on April 23. The library said there are no plans to fill the space. WTVG

- ➤ Tony Dia, the father of a slain Toledo police officer, pleaded guilty to grand theft and telecommunications fraud at Lucas County Common Pleas Court on April 16 — as part of a plea deal that dropped two additional counts while alleging he stole about $26K from his son's foundation. WTOL

- ➤ The Toledo Museum of Art features a special exhibit called The Journey So Far by local artist Chris 'Chilly' Rodriguez—who turned his life around from struggles with addiction to success. A free reception will be held Friday as the exhibit runs until July 6. WTVG

- ➤ Anglers fishing on Lake Erie this season can expect strong catches of walleye and yellow perch as a recent hatch boosts trophy potential, according to the ODNR. A new rule will reduce the east zone yellow perch daily limit to 20 fish starting May 1 — officials say the change supports sustainable fishing. Toledo Legal News

- ➤ A bill passed unanimously in the Senate lets Sen. Bill Reineke propose a plan for Seneca County to form its own waste management district and charge fees on out-of-state construction debris at the WIN Waste Innovations landfill—funding local health officials for better inspections. The bill now awaits hearings in the House before it gives the county more control over landfill fees and safety measures. WTVG

- ➤ Dental Excellence will offer free dental care on April 25 at its offices in Napoleon and Delta, giving each patient one free cleaning, filling or extraction on a first-come, first-served basis — serving up to 100 patients in Napoleon and 50 in Delta.
