- ➤ Three Toledo neighbors — Jeremiah McNutt, Jemark Walker and a third local — rescued elderly Sheldon and Floria Overton from their burning home on East Oakland Street early Saturday morning before the fire department arrived; the couple was taken to the hospital overnight and later returned to find their home had been broken into with valuables stolen. - ➤ UToledo and Owens Community College renewed the Rocket Express program on Monday at Owens’ campus to let students move from an associate degree at Owens to a bachelor’s degree from UToledo. - ➤ The Wood County Sheriff's Office is increasing patrols through April 30 to enforce zero tolerance on distracted driving, impaired driving, speeding and seat belt violations during Distracted Driving Awareness Month — the department aims to curb dangerous driving.
