BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Reggie’s Bike shop—an old local store open since the 1950s—will close its doors at the end of April because costs are high and more people shop online. The shop will have a final ‘Ride-Out’ sale and will stay open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday until it closes. WTOL

- ➤ 16-year-old Mason McGraw (5'5" and 120 lbs) was last seen in Toledo on April 8 wearing a flannel shirt and dark blue jeans and was later recorded on a doorbell camera at a home on Smith Road in Temperance after 11 p.m. (call 419-213-4975) as the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office searches for him. - ➤ The University of Toledo Rocket Career Center has launched an online survey for spring graduates to share their post-commencement plans such as employment, grad or professional school enrollment, military service or other pursuits. - ➤ Dr. Kim Nielsen of the University of Toledo is being honored with the Ohio Academy of History's 2025 Distinguished Historian Award today—she is recognized for her work on disability history and her role as chair of the Disability Studies Program. - ➤ Matt Bell, a former addict who battled homelessness and multiple arrests, will graduate from UToledo with a master’s degree in social work on May 2—he founded Team Recovery to help others recover from addiction. The University of Toledo
- ➤ UToledo will hold multiple commencement ceremonies this weekend and next week—honoring over 2,100 graduates in events for undergraduates, pharmacy, law, and medical programs. Alumnus Steven Klar will speak at the May 3 undergraduate events while Dr. Reshma Jagsi will deliver a keynote at the medical college ceremony, with events set for May 2, May 3, May 11 and May 16. - ➤ Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose is continuing an audit of voter registration records using data from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and the federal Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) database to remove noncitizens. Local boards of elections will cancel a registration if a voter does not confirm citizenship, following a constitutional amendment that allows only U.S. citizens to vote. Toledo Legal News
- ➤ The Office of Criminal Justice Services announced that over $4.5 million in Edward J. Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grants were awarded to support 147 projects in 65 counties across Ohio to boost crime prevention efforts for law enforcement, prosecutors, courts, and corrections. One recipient, the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, allocated $56,315.85 to assist agencies in Akron, Canton, Cleveland, Elyria, Lorain, Mansfield, Toledo, and Youngstown—helping them upgrade technology and equipment. - ➤ Lucas County voters will see two statewide ballot issues, a constitutional amendment and a Metroparks Toledo tax levy, on May 6 plus additional local measures covering levies for parks, roads and fire and rescue efforts and proposals for Sunday alcohol sales in specific precincts. The measures, some set to start in 2025 and lasting up to ten years, offer residents a range of funding choices based on where they live. Toledo Free Press
