COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Due to heavy rain, local organizers moved planned egg hunts indoors today so families can celebrate Easter safely - kids will enjoy fun activities at a community venue.  WTVG
  • The North Toledo Coalition held a community cleanup on Apr. 4 in north Toledo to tidy streets and parks. Local volunteers joined in to remove trash and improve public spaces.  WTVG
  • Community members met with local agriculture leaders for a farm-to-table breakfast Saturday to discuss farming challenges and the future of agriculture.  WTOL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Terra State Community College announced a leadership change and a fiscal recovery plan on Saturday, Apr. 4, and officials said the measures are meant to stabilize finances + support future operations.  WTVG

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Residents in Pemberville began cleaning up after floodwaters crested at over 14 feet on Friday, which marks the third-highest flood on record. Volunteers are currently working to restore the historic village.  WTOL
  • Residents in the Old South End are voicing concerns over a proposed solar field near the Maumee River. They say the project could alter the local character and quality of life.  WTVG

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lane closures will begin on Navarre Avenue soon to support planned safety upgrades. Residents are advised to expect delays — follow posted detour signs.  WTVG

HEALTH NEWS

  • A University of Toledo team led by Dr. Zhang and Dr. Ali launched the Northwest Ohio Cancer Research Institute to boost treatment for local patients. Funded with $13 million from December, the program unites researchers, clinical physicians, and multiple college partnerships to advance care.  Toledo Free Press
