  • David Oxner, Jr. recalls his 27-year struggle with addiction as he explains how the Toledo re-entry program is now helping former inmates rebuild their lives (providing job training and support services) for a fresh start.  The Blade

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Stranahan Theater will stage eight performances of the Tony Award-winning musical The Great Gatsby from Apr. 7 to Apr. 12 — featuring cast members Joshua Grosso and Leanne Robinson — to bring the classic story to life for audiences 10 and up; free parking is available around the theater.  Toledo Free Press
  • Flamenco Vivo will present Quinto Elemento (The Fifth Element) at the Valentine Theater on April 28 and 29, marking their first Toledo appearance with international dancers, singers and musicians.   • Mainstream and the Family, led by Brian David Bell, will perform live at The Switchboard on Friday, April 10. Hollow opens at 7 p.m. and Mainstream follows at 9:30 p.m.—tickets are on Eventbrite and the show will blend hip-hop, funk, reggae, rock, jazz and R&B.  Toledo City Paper

  • UToledo College of Law Dean Rebecca E. Zietlow and the Honorable Mary Ann Whipple were inducted into the Toledo Women Lawyers History Project Wall of Fame on April 3. Their recognition honors decades of service to legal progress in our community.  The University of Toledo

  • At UTMC on Thursday, the Donate Life flag was raised by Kandy Takas (a kidney transplant recipient) to honor organ donors and raise transplant awareness. She urged those on the waiting list to seek guidance from trusted groups like Life Connection of Ohio.  The University of Toledo
