- ➤ Tom Pappas built Dirty Paws Agape Haven in Ottawa Lake to care for senior dogs that other shelters often overlook—volunteers support the haven daily and donations help provide ongoing care. Toledo City Paper
- ➤ The Toledo Mud Hens proposed a project to connect North Saint Clair Street with Fifth Third Field, Fleetwood's Tap Room, and Hensville Park to create a festival street that boosts fan experience and visitor safety. City council will vote on the $3 million-plus plan on April 8 (the first phase is already underway with a new gateway and vehicle security gates). WTOL
- ➤ The University of Toledo will host its 88th Songfest event on April 5 at 5 p.m. at John F. Savage Arena to raise money for Mom’s House— a childcare center that helps low-income single moms continue their education. WTVG

- ➤ Several new businesses are set to open soon in Toledo and nearby areas—Bistro on Lewis, El Centroamericano Mexican Restaurant, Rita’s Italian Ice, Sabira Restaurant, The Host Concept balloon store, Wick-ed Pallette Studio, and In Season by Gardenview—while Miller Diversified will transform the Bob Miller Interiors building and the Wayman D. Palmer YMCA has opened at 200 E. Bancroft St. Meanwhile, several outlets have closed as BD’s Mongolian Grill, Sip and Brew, Small Music Box, the Solace Health and Wellness physical location, and YMCA Downtown have shut their doors, and Randomosity will air its final episode on April 12. - ➤ The University of Toledo’s Department of Theatre and Film will present A Midsummer Night’s Dream: A Jukebox Musical with an inclusive cast of community members, students and workshop participants from Detroit—beginning with a free preview on April 10 at 7:30 p.m. and opening night on April 11. The performance will offer ASL interpretation and open captioning—ensuring everyone can enjoy Shakespeare on April 13 at 2 p.m. Toledo City Paper
- ➤ Artist Chilly Rodriguez will open his new exhibit 'The Journey So Far' at the Toledo Museum of Art’s Community Gallery on April 16 and it will run until July 6. His work, which shows his life journey from a tough childhood to overcoming the loss of his left hand in an accident in 2018, will be celebrated at an opening reception on April 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.— Toledo City Paper

- ➤ UToledo celebrated its Carnegie R1 Classification on Wednesday at Savage Arena as faculty and students showcased research through poster presentations and interactive displays. Interim President Matt Schroeder praised the team's work on projects such as controlling invasive species in Lake Erie — efforts that promise to benefit the region. The University of Toledo

- ➤ Amy Wamsley, a business consultant training to swim the English Channel, will speak at the Partners for Clean Streams meeting on April 19 at the Indianola Shelter at Farnsworth Metropark and take a dip in the Maumee River to show how swimming can help health.
