  • 13abc will host a free shredding event at Lott Industries (3358 Hill Ave) on Apr. 23 from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; residents may drop off up to two boxes of paperwork and businesses can access special pricing.  WTVG
  • Toledo’s Big To Do April 2026 offers community events for all interests (from bingo to marathon): Thursday Night Bingo at Ostrich Towne predated today’s honky-tonk Best of Toledo Awards Party at Erie Street Market; later events feature a Mud Hens party, zoo orchid show, Half-O-Ween fest, Chorale cabaret and the Glass City Marathon.  Toledo City Paper

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A garbage truck backed into a utility pole on Marine Road at around 4:30 a.m. Thursday, shutting down streets and leaving local businesses without power until crews replaced the pole (workers took several hours to restore service).  WTVG

  • UToledo Rocketry Club president Michael Vargas said Artemis II will inspire local youth to explore science and space. His comments add to growing excitement about the upcoming mission expected to boost interest in local STEM programs.  The University of Toledo

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Monroe County Health Department reported a measles case with possible exposure at St. Joseph Church of Ida on March 28 (6:00 p.m.–9:30 p.m.) and at Trinity Health IHA Urgent Care in Milan on March 31 (11:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.); anyone present should watch for symptoms for 21 days.  WTVG
  • Local health experts report data from the National Cancer Institute showing that cancer-related deaths among children have dropped by more than 50% since 1975, largely due to advances in immunotherapy (like Blinatumomab) and improved supportive care. Experts remain confident that ongoing research will further boost survival rates.  WTOL
  • A new federal rule will add work checks to Medicaid and may drop 356,000 Ohioans when the requirements take effect in 2027 (about half of those covered), according to a study by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.  WTVG
  • The 15th Annual Business & Health EXPO will take place tomorrow from 10am-3pm at Epworth United Methodist Church on W.
