COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Toledo Air Show will be held at the Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport on May 10 and 11. The event will feature the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, the 180th Fighter Wing, and the Smoke-and-Thunder Jet Show—kids under 3, first responders, and military members get in free.  WTVG

CRIME NEWS

  • Twins Davon and Tavon Woods will lead a 13-mile walk on Saturday—beginning near Miami and Wilmot—to honor Kei’Mani Latigue, a teen whose body was found near an abandoned building after she was allegedly killed by her father, and Toledo residents are invited to join for a mile or two.  WTVG

CULTURE NEWS

  • Toledo Athletic and JAC Management announced the Zac Brown Band will headline Glass City Live at the Glass Bowl on Saturday, May 24—Dustin Lynch, Luke Grimes and Gaelic Storm will open the show. The concert, the first major event at the Glass Bowl since 1994, is expected to draw large crowds and support local businesses.  Toledo Free Press
  • A Taylor Swift tribute concert titled Let's Sing Taylor — A Live Band Experience will take place this summer on July 20 at 5 p.m. at Sylvania's Centennial Terrace while tickets go on sale Friday, April 4 at 10 a.m.—prices range from $27 to $49.50 based on seating.  WTOL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A new Ohio law signed by Gov. DeWine will go into effect on April 9 and stops landlords from naming minors as defendants in eviction cases while aiding courts to quickly dismiss SLAPP lawsuits—helping protect tenants who criticize landlords and speak on public interest matters. The law does not block evictions or the collection of unpaid rent.  WTOL

HEALTH NEWS

  • The University of Toledo will host a Healthcare Symposium at the Glass City Center on April 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.—where health leaders will share ideas on better care in northwest Ohio. A free Community Health Summit will follow on April 12 at Delta Hotels Toledo from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with sessions addressing gaps in care and access.  The University of Toledo
  • Mercy Health and Cigna reached a multi-year commercial insurance agreement that kept Cigna-insured patients in Mercy Health without a coverage gap—coverage was set to end on April 1 if no deal had been struck. The agreement came after several months of negotiations and was announced in a press release on Wednesday.  WTOL
