- ➤ Glass City Broomball in Toledo gives high school girls a chance to join a team sport that resembles hockey with taped brooms and a plastic ball—played in two nine-minute halves on a half rink. League manager Monica Steele said the free league welcomes girls with no experience and that registration begins Aug. 1. WTVG

- ➤ Downtown Toledo welcomed The Mez, a new upscale event venue that opened on March 6 at 710 Monroe St after nearly a decade of vacancy. SVN Ascension agent Stephanie Pilgrim (the building buyer) and general manager Dani Bucher plan to add a restaurant and speakeasy to the historic venue that hosts weddings, corporate events and private parties. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Rosco Hummel, 35 from North Baltimore pleaded guilty to gross sexual imposition against a child under ten and was sentenced to 18 months in prison while Alex McMonigal, 39 from Wayne pleaded guilty to sexual battery for crimes committed from 2022 to 2023 and received a 10-year sentence—both must register as sex offenders. - ➤ A 41-year-old woman, Shontelle Kincaid, was killed Sunday night when she was hit by a vehicle while crossing Laskey Rd outside a crosswalk; Toledo police said the crash involved a 52-year-old driver around (9 p.m.) and that an investigation is ongoing. WTVG
