  • Volunteers are needed to clean up the Greenbelt Parkway in north Toledo this Easter weekend. Organizers invite local residents to join the effort to improve the community.  WTVG
  • Toledo Police and Firefighters are learning woodworking skills at Inspired Lumber Workshop's free six-week Salute to Carpentry course today; enrollment now includes veterans after early positive feedback on its mental health benefits.  WTVG
  • Local service members were recognized on National Vietnam War Veterans Day on March 30 during an event in Toledo that honored their service and sacrifice.  WTVG
  • Toledo Rotary members, Toledo GROWs, and Inspired Lumber created handcrafted flower beds for local veterans during the Service Above Self day at the Inspired Lumber Workshop + the beds will soon be filled with donated flowers to honor the veterans.  WTOL

  • Gas prices across Toledo remain near $3.80 a gallon with further increases expected as petroleum analyst Matt McClain says prices may top $4 in coming weeks. Auto experts advise that proper tire inflation and routine maintenance (such as checking engine warning lights) can improve fuel efficiency.  WTOL
  • A national survey reports U.S. household debt topped $18.5 trillion by Q3, 2025 + local financial experts advise Toledo residents to consider practical debt management strategies as rising pressure affects everyday budgets.  WTVG

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Michelle Zilberman, a UToledo PA student and Army sergeant, balances military duties with coursework at the Jacobs Interprofessional Immersive Simulation Center while serving as the college’s sole PA student ambassador (a key role for future PA Rockets). She plans to improve patient care in both military and civilian settings.  The University of Toledo
  • Seventeen Anthony Wayne seniors will compete in DECA's International Career Development Conference in Atlanta at the end of April after their strong performance in the state competition.   • Construction on two new water towers will begin next month next to Silver Creek Elementary in west Toledo — a planned upgrade to the local water system.  WTOL
  • UAW Local 14 claims two workers were fired during union organizing at a Toledo Value Point facility, and federal labor cases are under review.  WTOL

HEALTH NEWS

  • University of Toledo researchers are seeking volunteers for a study to see how blue-green algae toxins from Lake Erie may affect health (when inhaled). The study was announced on Monday, Mar. 30 and will run long-term.  The University of Toledo
  • Ohio State Highway Patrol Bowling Green Post Commander Matt Geer was discharged from UToledo Medical Center on March 30 after receiving a kidney transplant donated by a fellow officer (hospital officials confirmed his steady recovery).  The University of Toledo
  • WTOL 11 + Life Connection of Ohio will host the 16th annual Donate Life Green Chair Sit-in on April 7-8 to mark National Donate Life Month. The 24-hour event will feature transplant recipients, donor families and volunteers taking turns in the Green Chair at WTOL 11.  WTOL
