CRIME NEWS

  • Toledo police arrested Marcus Lavell Page, 34, around 11:30 a.m. Sunday after he allegedly shot a man during a robbery, carjacked a driver and led officers on a high-speed chase (he faces charges of aggravated robbery, felonious assault and fleeing from police and is due arraignment Monday morning).  WTVG

EDUCATION NEWS

  • More than 150 fourth-year med students at UToledo will learn their residency placements on Friday, March 21 during an invitation-only Match Day ceremony at the Stranahan Theater starting at 11:30 a.m. They will open envelopes at noon—marking a key milestone in their journey toward residency training.  The University of Toledo
  • Toledo Public Schools special education teacher David Johnson, who taught for 13 years and battled colon cancer for 6 years, passed away Friday—he leaves behind his wife and three children and his funeral is set for Thursday, March 20th.  WTOL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Mike DeWine and ODOT released an 18 month transportation study that found 72 congestion risk locations on state highways, highlighting needed improvements on routes such as US 23 between Waldo and I 270 in the Toledo to Columbus corridor. The report details $13 billion in projects with $6.1 billion still unfunded — prompting further work to strengthen the transportation system for Ohio’s growing economy.  Toledo Legal News
