  • Dickey’s Barbecue Pit near Perrysburg reopens after a July kitchen fire led to a temporary closure; owners Steve and Kari Mowery fixed the issues and invite locals to enjoy its signature barbecue now.  The Blade

CULTURE NEWS

  • Fantasticon, an annual pop culture and comic event, will run this weekend at Glass City Center for local fans (featuring a guest lineup and interactive activities).  WTOL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • League of Women Voters of Toledo-Lucas County will host a discussion on the protection of personal rights at its general meeting — a chance for community members to learn about safeguards for their freedoms.  The Blade

HEALTH NEWS

  • Unison Health plans to open its Child Wellness Campus with $2.6M in state funding for children’s behavioral health. The facility, one of six statewide, will provide new services to Toledo families soon.  WTVG
  • ProMedica Russell J. Ebeid Children's Hospital has introduced Chip — a friendly facility dog — today to help comfort pediatric patients and support their families during treatments.  WTOL

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Sunrise Skillet, at 1855 S Reynolds Rd, has served breakfast, brunch + lunch for 11 years with a menu featuring Irish Eggs Benedict and Deep Fried Caramel French Toast while Kitchen Manager Robbe Ismail entertains guests. A third restaurant will open soon in Perrysburg.  WTVG

SPORTS NEWS

  • Three guards from Bowling Green and Toledo earned All-MAC honors this season, showing strong performance on the court. Their recognition highlights the talent and hard work of these athletes during play.  The Blade
  • Four college basketball teams from northwest Ohio are headed to Cleveland for the 2026 Mid-American Conference Tournament, and the women’s teams will begin play on opening day.  The Blade
  • Syracuse is expected to hire UToledo athletic director Bryan Blair as its new AD, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Blair has led Rocket athletics since 2022 (modernizing the program with record revenues) and previously served as deputy AD at Washington State.  WTVG
