  • The Greater Toledo Train and Toy Show attracted thousands of visitors yesterday when over 50 exhibitors showcased model trains + toy displays. Local families enjoyed a fun day out as the event celebrated community hobbies.  WTVG
  • Local churches host Lenten fish fries (a period of fasting and prayer) to bring neighbors together through food and fellowship. Events take place throughout the 40-day season at various church sites.  The Blade

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Timbos Cones and Coneys starts its 29th season today as the Monroe Street Bridge closes at 9 p.m. for 150 days, which will lengthen commutes for staff + customers from Sylvania, so the shop plans extra lunch specials and detour maps to assist visitors.  WTVG

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local high school students see their art for the first time at Passages (with 407 submissions and 165 accepted entries) held at Owens, spotlighting newfound talent and offering a unique gallery experience for young artists.  The Blade
  • The Wolcott House Museum Guild is hosting a lecture series at Maumee Library (a local landmark) that brings history to life (using first-person performers to share northwest Ohio and American stories).  The Blade

  • UToledo Law will host its Toledo Way Series talk 'A Look Back at 40 Years of Practice' featuring Ohio State Bar Association President William G. Chris on Monday, March 16 at noon in the McQuade Law Auditorium at 1825 West Rocket Drive. Admission is free+complimentary pizza is provided.  The University of Toledo
  • The University of Toledo will host Christopher Guzman — celebrated pianist — for the Dorothy MacKenzie Price Piano Series. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • UToledo researchers led by Dr. Jeanine Refsnider found that regional box turtle populations in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan show signs of inbreeding depression, which could reduce hatchling survival. The study cautions against removing wild turtles and highlights how habitat loss may worsen these effects.  The University of Toledo
