  • Starting Friday, March 20, 2026, a new Ohio law will require hemp products with more than 0.4 milligrams per container to be sold only in licensed dispensaries, which will end THC-infused drink sales at Harvest on Airport Highway that has sold 10-14 cases weekly. The law also will ban bringing in products from other states like Michigan.  WTVG
  • New SNAP benefit requirements announced recently may affect over 10,000 local residents as families face rising pump prices + job challenges amid a grim February report on the cost of living.  WTVG
  • Swanton Village officials enforced a longstanding ordinance that prohibits feeding stray cats after citing a resident for breaking the rule due to public health and safety concerns. Village Administrator Shannon Shulters said the measure aims to curtail the growth of unaltered, breeding feral cats near residences.  WTVG

  • In the parking lot of Fessenden Hardware (Swanton), cashier Larry Martin performed CPR on a man who collapsed last week during a routine visit, and the rescued customer later returned with his wife to thank him while Martin urged residents to learn CPR.  WTVG
  • After the daylight savings switch, Dr. Ehab Eltahawy (UToledo Health) explained that lack of sleep can increase the risk of heart attack and stroke and urged residents to watch for early warning signs.  The University of Toledo
